Sustainability

Sustainability, Stitched into Every Pair

At Tabio, sustainability isn’t a trend it’s a commitment. From responsibly sourced materials to low-impact production methods, every sock is designed with both quality and the planet in mind. We believe true craftsmanship means caring not just for your feet, but for the world they walk on. By blending innovation with tradition, we create socks that are made to last beautifully, mindfully, and responsibly.

Our Journey to Sustainable Socks

At Tabio, sustainability is woven into every step we take. From ethically sourced fibres to thoughtful production and innovative recycling, our approach balances premium quality with environmental care creating socks you can feel good about wearing.

Growth & Materials

At Tabio, sustainability begins with our materials. We source and grow ethical, traceable raw fibres, including responsibly cultivated cotton on reclaimed fields in Nara Prefecture, Japan. Every material is carefully chosen for its low environmental impact, high quality, and long-term wearability ensuring each pair of socks is as kind to the planet as it is to your feet.

Production & sale

We control the entire process from thread to toe. All of our products are crafted in-house by expert technicians, allowing us to ensure the highest standards of quality, fairness, and environmental responsibility. By selling directly to our customers, we reduce excess and keep our carbon footprint low, while delivering socks that reflect generations of craftsmanship.

Recycle & Reuse

Our commitment doesn’t end at the point of sale. We actively collect and recycle used Tabio socks, giving materials a second life. Our innovative range includes engineered fibres such as Lyocell, Japanese washi paper yarns, and recycled polyester made from PET bottles pushing the boundaries of comfort, performance, and circular design.

Our Products

Tabio Organic Cotton

Our organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals, synthetic fertilisers, or pesticides protecting both the environment and the farmers who cultivate it. Organic cotton farming often uses more water-efficient methods like crop rotation and cover cropping, helping conserve water and reduce environmental impact, especially in areas with water scarcity. Sourced from certified farms, this cotton offers a softer, more breathable feel while supporting healthier soil and biodiversity. By choosing organic, we’re choosing a cleaner future one sock at a time.

Working with the local community

The fields we use to cultivate cotton are reclaimed from fallow land in Nara Prefecture, Japan. This initiative supports local employment and helps revitalise the town of Koryo through collaboration with skilled local silver artisans.

Japanese washi socks

Washi - Recycled Japanese Paper

Our washi yarn is made from recycled Japanese paper, reimagined through advanced spinning techniques to create a lightweight, breathable, and naturally deodorising fibre. Inspired by centuries-old papermaking traditions, this material blends heritage with sustainability reducing waste while offering exceptional comfort. Washi socks are a testament to how innovation and craftsmanship can come together for a cleaner, cooler step forward.

Recycled Polyester

We give plastic a second life by transforming recycled PET bottles and polyester fibres into high-performance socks. Through advanced recycling and spinning techniques, we create durable, breathable yarns that reduce reliance on virgin plastics and help divert waste from landfills and oceans. These socks combine environmental responsibility with everyday functionality proof that sustainability can be seamlessly woven into every step.
